Using AI to predict the thermal state of servers

JAPAN: Daikin is to begin joint verification of a cooling optimisation solution to predict the thermal state inside data centre servers with leading IT company NTT Data.

This initiative, which begins this month, will use NTT Data’s data centre operation know-how and correlate data between server behaviour and air conditioning, and Daikin’s advanced AC control technology for AC and heat source equipment and air conditioning control AI technology.

According to the two companies, a key feature is that even in environments where detailed data inside the server cannot be directly obtained, the AI can predict the thermal state inside the server based on indirect data such as the server’s power usage and temperature information. Based on the prediction results, they say integrated control of air conditioning, heat source, and liquid cooling equipment will be achieved.

The two companies will verify the effectiveness of the system at NTT Data’s data centre during fiscal year 2026, aiming for commercialisation in fiscal year 2027.
