Exchange Quay receives sustainable upgrade

UK: FSW UK partnered with Sandbach-based contractor Austin Broady Associates and Mitsubishi Electric to install sustainable HVAC upgrades at the Greater Manchester office campus, Exchange Quay.
Exchange Quay is a large office complex in Salford Quays, Manchester, built in the 1990s and offering flexible Grade A office spaces, totalling 472,000ft2 across seven buildings.
The Exchange Quay investment managers, Till Asset Management, were looking to upgrade the business complex, located on the Salford Docks, with a new sustainable and energy efficient heating system.
Working with Austin Broady Associates, FSW identified Mitsubishi Electric’s CAHV-P500YB-HPB 40kW commercial air heat pumps as the most suitable hardware for Building 8, a ten-storey structure with 116,000ft2 of office space.

These heat pumps were able to be retrofitted into the existing system, replacing 600kW gas boilers.
Due to its use of the building’s existing systems, FSW maintains that the success of the project has established a new baseline for sustainable HVAC upgrades, not just at the Exchange Quay, but nationwide. The company’s application of heat pumps within an existing heating and cooling system is now being used as a blueprint for similar ventures in commercial properties across the UK.
