Nordic Climate expands into UK and Ireland

UK: The Nordic Climate Group, the acquisitive Swedish cooling and heating contractor group, has moved into the UK and Ireland markets with three acquisitions with revenues totalling over £50m.

The companies – Anglo Irish Refrigeration of Ashbourne, Co Meath, MC Refrigeration of Wellingborough and Glasgow-based CSD Air Conditioning – join a group of over 100 Nordic Climate branches across the Nordic region and the Netherlands.

Nordic Climate Group describes itself as the leading player in all forms of energy-efficient cooling and heating installations, offering full responsibility from idea, planning, installation, and delivery to maintenance and service.

The group was formed in 2021 and is owned by a broad group of entrepreneurs and employees together with Altor Fund V.

The Nordic Climate Group says that by establishing operations in the UK and Ireland, the Group is building on its proven model and strengthening its presence among key customers in the food retail, logistics, industrial, and commercial property sectors.

Anglo Irish Refrigeration has operations across the Republic of Ireland and in Northern Ireland. The group consists of Anglo Irish Refrigeration, Portglenone Refrigeration, Cater 2, Hoctor Refrigeration and Kavanagh Refrigeration. Founded in 1976, the company has over 220 employees four regional depots and a customer base across the food retail, industrial, public and commercial sectors.

CEO Trevor Wright and CFO Niall Jones will continue in their operational roles within Nordic Climate Group.

Established in 2004, MC Refrigeration serves clients across the UK and specialises in the installation, removal, safe disposal and maintenance of commercial refrigeration display equipment and cold rooms. It boasts a major hub in Wellingborough and engineers based at strategic locations across the country.

Managing director Laura Dobson will continue to lead MC Refrigeration, with founder Murray Carvell continuing in an advisory role.

CSD Air Conditioning was founded in 2017 and is based in Clydebank. It offers installation and servicing of HVAC systems to customers in the hotel, retail, and commercial sectors. CSD also partners with facilities management and building companies to deliver services through the whole life of a project.

Founders Carlo Scaramuzza and wife Danielle will remain in the business.

“What makes Nordic Climate Group unique is that every company continues to be what made them successful – locally anchored, customer-focused and entrepreneur-driven – while we become stronger together,” commented Nordic Climate Group president and group CEO Fredrik Gren.

“With our entry into the United Kingdom and Ireland, we are reinforcing this model further and gaining greater momentum in our shared ambition to drive the transition to energy-efficient cooling and heating solutions.”
