Daikin adds VKM-JM fresh-air unit to R32 VRV range

BELGIUM: Daikin’s new VKM-JM decentralised ventilation unit for commercial applications combines fresh-air treatment, humidity control, and heat recovery in a single system.
With airflow capacities ranging from 500m³/h to 1,000m³/h, the VKM-JM reduces the load on connected heat pumps or air conditioning systems. At its core is an integrated DX coil and humidifier, enabling post-treatment of outdoor air and control of both supply-air temperature and humidity, regardless of external conditions.
A paper heat exchanger recovers both thermal energy and moisture from exhaust air.
Compared to the previous generation, the VKM-JM is said to achieve up to 10% higher enthalpy efficiency and up to 74% total heat recovery. It also claims improved airtightness and features night-time free cooling.
An optional sensor enables demand-controlled ventilation based on actual CO2 levels.
The unit is also designed to simplify installation and ensure consistent airflow in real conditions. It features automatic airflow adjustment, which automatically selects the correct fan curve and maintains the target airflow despite changes in duct resistance.
The VKM-JM, which will be available from next month, can connect directly to Daikin’s VRV IV and VRV 5 systems.
