Indoor ground-source R290 heat pump

GERMANY: Viessmann has expanded its heat pump portfolio with the new Vitocal 300-G intelligent energy, an indoor ground-source heat pump.

The Vitocal 300-G uses R290 refrigerant, offers 6kW to 16kW, and features Viessmann’s new One Base Intelligence control platform for smart connectivity of all system components.

An active safety system integrated as standard is said to ensure safe operation across all output sizes. The heat pump is designed for a wide range of residential applications—from new construction and refurbishment projects to the replacement of existing ground-source heat pumps.

The Vitocal 300-G intelligent energy is said to achieve an A+++ energy efficiency rating, seasonal space heating energy efficiency of up to 212%, and a SCOP of up to 5.5 in low-temperature applications. Maximum supply temperature is 70ºC.

Viessmann’s use of sound insulation is said to enable quiet operation, with the 6 kW model, as an example, achieving an ErP sound power level of 34dB(A).

The new Viessmann One Base Intelligence control platform gives the Vitocal 300-G intelligent energy built-in readiness for the future and enables intelligent connectivity across all system components. It reduces complexity in planning, commissioning, and service. ViGuide enables systems to be commissioned, monitored remotely, and diagnosed remotely when needed.

As an open system, One Base Intelligence enables the integration of third-party products for the first time, allowing them to be controlled by Viessmann Energy Management.

The ViCare app allows system owners to adjust room and domestic hot water temperatures and view energy consumption, system status, and energy flows. Integrated Viessmann Energy Management automatically coordinates electricity, heating, and electric mobility, takes weather forecasts into account, and enables the use of dynamic electricity rates.

The Vitocal 300-G intelligent energy is available with optional factory-integrated natural cooling components that use the cool temperatures of the ground to cool a building without running the heat pump’s compressor and helping to lower living space temperatures by up to 3ºC on hot days.

The heat pump can be used as a standalone solution or in a cascade configuration with up to four floor-standing units. Only one Universal Controller is required for the entire cascade.

When replacing an existing ground-source heat pump, an existing geothermal borehole can continue to be used. The Vitocal 300-G intelligent energy also supports the connection of PVT collectors.

With a footprint of just 0.5m2, the floor-standing heat pump is also suitable for installations where space is limited. The heat pump module can be removed using plug-in couplings and electrical connectors, simplifying installation and servicing.
