Adcock sold to construction company

UK: Cambridgeshire-based Adcock Refrigeration and Air Conditioning has been acquired by UK construction company Bowmer + Kirkland.

The acquisition has been revealed by PEM Corporate Finance, who advised on the sale. There has been no comment, as yet, from either Adcock or Bowmer + Kirkland.

Founded in 1964 by John Adcock, Adcock Refrigeration and Air Conditioning has grown to become a widely respected organisation within the cooling and heating contracting industry. It has 230 staff across 15 regional offices in England – from Nottingham to London and the south east.

Adcock achieved a turnover just shy of £50m in the year to the end of 2023, a 13% increase on 2022. Profit returned to pre-pandemic levels, rising 38% to £4m.

A family business based in Belper, Derbyshire, Bowmer + Kirkland was founded in 1923. The company offers a wide range of specialisms through its construction division, handling projects from £1m to more than £130m, construction-related services companies and its homeland security subsidiaries. With 1750 staff operating from its head office, it also operates from regional offices in Birmingham, Manchester, Motherwell, Newark, London, Reading and Sunderland, as well as the USA.
