BESA seeks apprentice placements

UK: The Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) is desperately seeking placements for a number of apprentices affected by the closure of FM company George Birchall Service.

The apprentices were amongst the 400 employees made redundant, or transferred under TUPE to replacement contractors, when the Newcastle-under-Lyme business closed at the end of last week

BESA says it is looking for placements for 11 apprentices affected, one of whom, based in Stourbridge, is in the first year of a Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Engineering apprenticeship. The others are studying as building services engineers. All are 1st year apprentices in the Liverpool, Stoke and Essex areas.

The association also seeks employers for three more young apprentices affected by a separate business failure. All three are in the Wilmslow area of Chesire. One is in year 2 of a Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Engineering apprenticeship, the others are studying Building Services Engineering Service & Maintenance.
