Crocker is axed by BESA

Stephen Crocker is thought to be one of the victims of BESA’s cutbacks

UK: Stephen Crocker, secretary of F-gas certification body REFCOM, and BESA technical director Tim Rook are thought to be two of the high profile names being made redundant by BESA.

In a move described as a restructuring to improve the efficiency of its operations, the UK building services contractors’ association yesterday announced an unspecified number of redundancies.

None of those facing redundancy have yet been named but Stephen Crocker and Tim Rook are believed to be two of those hit by the cuts. BESA had suggested that at least some of the cuts would come from its “large” internal technical team.

When contacted, a BESA spokesperson told the Cooling Post: “As we’re going through a consultation process I’m afraid I can’t offer any further information.”

Long-serving Stephen Crocker has been heading the REFCOM scheme for at least 12 years. Tim Rook joined BESA two years ago from Eon Community Energy where he was head of build design. Neither could be contacted yesterday.
