Discussing food chain energy demand
UK: Reducing energy demand in the food chain is the subject of a talk at the Institution of Engineering and Technology at the end of this month.
The presentation, entitled Food for Thought: Reducing Energy Demand in the Food Chain, will be given by prof Savvas Tassou, director of the Institute of Energy Futures at Brunel University and food industry expert Doug Marriott.
It is predicted that by 2030 the growth in global population and the impacts of climate change will increase food production needs by 50%, energy demand by 45% and water demand by 30%. During this event, these aspects of the food industry will be examined as well as the projects currently being undertaken to manage this change.
This evening presentation will take place at Queen Mary University of London on October 30 from 18:00-20:30.
