DuPont introduces R1234yf

20131206_75274_443x287_13671410_111926UK: Supplies of the new HFO refrigerant R1234yf are now available in the UK through DuPont distributor BOC.

The introduction of DuPont’s Opteon brand refrigerant increases the availability of the new gas which previously was only available from Honeywell.

R1234yf is mainly directed at the car industry as a replacement for R134a which has been banned under the MAC directive.

“We are seeing a steady increase in demand for Opteon YF as car manufacturers continue to launch new car models or platforms and need to move to a refrigerant with very low global warming potential,” said BOC’s sales and marketing manager for refrigerants, Ruth Leland.
