FSW opens new Hull branch

UK: Air conditioning and refrigeration wholesaler FSW has now officially opened its new purpose-built, 6,000ft² branch in Hull.

The new branch, opened earlier this year, features a large warehouse, a much expanded trade counter, offices and staff facilities.

The previous Hull branch on the South Orbital Trading Park was opened in 1997 by NRW, and in the intervening years had doubled its original size by expanding into the next-door unit.

“When the branch became part of FSW it was obvious we needed bigger premises,” said regional director Paul Fisher. “When land became available nearby, we decided to

acquire it and build a unit to our own specifications.”

That land was just across the Hebdon Road on the Merrick Business Park.

“At the old site we were very restricted in the amount of stock we could hold and the ancillaries we could offer,” added Paul Fisher. “Here we have a large one-stop-shop facility, so engineers don’t have to spend time shopping around for tools and materials.

“Because we were so near and the fact that we had a very good rapport with the builders, we have been able to get exactly the facilities we need.”

The new trade counter sells a wide range of pipes, tool boxes, tools, ladders and many more ancillaries.

When it came to the building’s heating and cooling requirements, FSW called on one of its suppliers, Fujitsu, for the necessary equipment. Subsequently, four Fujitsu outdoor units, serving two 5kW cassettes were installed for the office/trade counter area and two 2.5kW Fujitsu wall-mounts for the canteen and utility rooms. All the units are connected using Reflok aluminium piping.

Adds Paul Fisher: “Historically we have sold Fujitsu for more than 20 years. It is a very popular brand. We call it the fit and forget range, because it is so reliable.

“That was one of the reasons we chose Fujitsu for this installation, the other is to have working units that we can show to our own customers.”
