Goode-byes after 48 years

UK: Colin Goode, product and specification manager at Fujitsu, is to retire at the end of the year after almost 48 years in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry.

Colin attended Willesden College of Technology from 1972 to 1976 where he studied under John Ellis and Ken Couch before completing his refrigeration apprenticeship with Frigidaire.

He went on to spend 20 years with Carrier in a variety of sales, product and national account roles before spells with York in Basildon, Brighouse-based IMI Air Conditioning, ACDP consulting engineers, and close control specialists Eaton-Williams. There then followed an eight-year stint in contracting with Blue Sky Air Conditioning in Essex, followed by a move to Andrews Air Conditioning.

He joined Fujitsu General Air Conditioning UK in 2013, progressing from VRF pre-sales engineer to product and specification manager.  He has worked across Fujitsu’s entire product range in conjunction with teams in Japan, Germany and new partners GIH in Italy, to develop new products and put forward the UK market demands.

Despite describing the working environment at Fujitsu as “a breath of fresh air”, he said: “I will not miss working life, but I will miss the banter and camaraderie that the HVAC&R industry has in abundance and which I feel also has become a bit of a Fujitsu trademark. I do plan to keep in touch with all my past and present work group colleagues and perhaps, like a bad old penny, I will turn up at the odd trade show or industry event in the future.’’

Ian Carroll, Chief Operating Officer, Fujitsu General Air Conditioning UK said: “Colin has been a pivotal member of our team bringing his years of industry experience to Fujitsu which has helped in both product development and the setting up of our specification sales department. He will be missed and will always remain part of our family.”
