HPA UK joins Mark Williams as communications head
14th September 2026
UK: The Heat Pump Association UK has appointed Mark Williams as its new head of policy and communications.
Williams joins HPA UK from EDF Energy, where he led work on electricity market reform in his role as senior net zero strategy and policy adviser. He replaces Olivia Smalley who has left the association to take up a senior account role with a London-based communications consultancy.
Prior to EDF, Williams established the policy analysis team at Energy UK, using insight-led advocacy to explain and shape energy policy, including the reform of electricity policy costs to support heat electrification.
In his new role, Mark will spearhead HPA UK’s policy and communications strategy, working with members, policymakers and stakeholders to accelerate the growth of the heat pump sector and support the UK’s net zero ambitions.
