IOR invites responses to EN378 revision

UK: The Institute of Refrigeration says it will be developing a coordinated response to the proposed revision of EN378 standard and has urged input from the UK industry.

The revised EN378 standard, which specifies safety and environmental requirements for refrigerating systems and heat pumps, is now open for public consultation and will remain open until 26 August.

The changes proposed will have a significant impact on the design and installation of both factory built and site-installed systems.

It includes:
BS EN 378-1 – Refrigerating systems and heat pumps. Safety and environmental requirements. Part 1: Basic requirements, definitions, classification and selection criteria;
BS EN 378-2 – Refrigerating systems and heat pumps. Safety and environmental requirements. Part 2: Design, construction, testing, marking and documentation;
BS EN 378-3 – Refrigerating systems and heat pumps. Safety and environmental requirements. Part 3: Installation site and personal protection;
EN 378-5 Refrigerating systems and heat pumps. Safety and environmental requirements. Part 5: Safety classification and information about refrigerants.
