Lawton Tubes plans new £20m facility

The company’s current facility in Torrington Avenue

UK: Copper tube manufacturer and supplier Lawton Tubes has announced plans for a new £20m facility, just a few metres from its current headquarters.

The new development will see the creation of a 120,000ft2 (11,148m2), two-storey facility that will house the company’s manufacturing, storage, and office operations in Torrington Avenue.

This expansion will provide much-needed capacity for the rapidly growing family-run business, which boasts an annual turnover of £230m and employs 140 staff across its four sites in Coventry, Redditch, and Poole.

Lawton Tubes currently exports to over 40 countries and holds the King’s Award for Enterprise in recognition of its international trade achievements.

Robert Lawton, the company’s director of marketing and international sales, said that this was the ideal time for investment with increasing global demand, recognition from the King’s Award for Enterprise, and strong sales growth across new markets.

“There is growing awareness of copper’s sustainability. It can be recycled endlessly and has natural antimicrobial properties that kill germs on contact. This has driven demand across all our sectors, reinforcing the need for expanded space and new technologies to support our next phase of growth,” he said.
