Ted Perry winner in top engineers’ list

UK: Dr Nausheen Basha, winner of last year’s Institute of Refrigeration Ted Perry Award, has been named in this year’s Top 50 Women in Engineering list.
Dr Basha, a project manager in fluids engineering at Imperial College London, was named in the annual list published yesterday by the UK’s Women’s Engineering Society (WES) to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day (INWED).
A chartered engineer, Dr Basha won last year’s IoR Ted Perry award for her work on a project developing oil-flooded screw compressors and her co-published paper The Development of Screw Compressor by Improving Oil Injection System. A previous project on CFD modelling of oil separators also achieved an outstanding grade from Innovate UK.
Passionate about getting more young women interested in STEM, Dr Basha admitted on Twitter that she was “beyond words, humbled, and honoured” to have been included on the Top 50 Women in Engineering list.
It is not the first time that women from our industry have featured in the list. Last year, the distinction fell to Linda McVittie of J & E Hall and previous winners have included Jane Gartshore of Cool Concerns, Laura Bishop, current chair of the Ground Source Heat Pumps Association, Jacinta Caden of USystems and Lisa-Jayne Cook, now with GEA.
