Toshiba lends weight to Refcom Elite

UK: Refcom has welcomed news that Toshiba Air Conditioning UK is insisting on installers being Refcom Elite registered to benefit from its top tier 7-year warranty.

Established in 1994, Refcom Elite is a voluntary best practice company registration scheme designed to promote environmentally responsible refrigerant management and compliance with the latest industry legislation.

Refcom says that Toshiba Air Conditioning has joined a growing list of manufacturers seeking to ensure that only fully competent professionals install and maintain their technically advanced equipment.

“Toshiba’s warranty is based on a commitment to continuous training rather than purchasing power. It is our policy to raise standards where possible within the industry in order to improve equipment reliability, reduce warranty claims, reduce climate impact and improve the end user experience,” said Toshiba’s technical director Neil Wooldridge.

“We are therefore pleased to be endorsing the Refcom Elite standard as a means of independently verifying technical competence and environmental responsibility of those customers entitled to our T7e warranty scheme.”

Head of Refcom Graeme Fox said: “We hear of too many operators who are not fully qualified to do the job. The wider industry is increasingly insisting on proof of competence both as a measure of how the standards in the sector are rising, and also in preparation for the widely expected changes to the building regulations post-Hackett.

“We’re delighted to see manufacturers like Toshiba showing great corporate responsibility by ensuring that they only accept contractors who demonstrate the highest benchmark of competence and environmental standards.”
