AHRI to consult on proposed HVACR tariffs

USA: The AHRI is to consult with members over the possibility of the US imposing tariffs on HVACR products in an extension of the USA’s trade dispute with China.

The US Trade Representative (USTR) has included certain refrigeration and air conditioning products in a list of 1,300 Chinese goods, worth an estimated $50bn, set to be targeted by additional tariffs of 25%.

The USTR is seeking public comment and will hold a public hearing regarding a proposed determination on appropriate action on May 15 at the US International Trade Commission in Washington.

The tariff list includes several HVACR and water heating products, including boilers, compressors, air conditioners, furnaces, refrigerators, freezers, water heaters, heat exchangers, and control equipment. AHRI says it will be consulting with members on the proposed list.
