AIRAH and ISHRAE sign MOU

AUSTRALIA/INDIA: In a move designed to strengthen ties between the two countries, the Australian and Indian air conditioning and refrigeration institutes have signed a memorandum of understanding.

Under the deal signed on Monday at Chicago’s Palmer House Hilton, the two organisations – the Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating (AIRAH) and the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) – formally agreed to work together.

Specifically, they pledged to “support the advancement and promotion of mutual interests of educational, technical, engineering and built environment professionals engaged in the HVAC&R and building services industry”.

The pact was signed by ISHRAE president Vishal Kapur and AIRAH president Ian Harwood.

“This MoU is vital for the Asian region, with Australia and India now cooperating to leverage the great work and experience of all our members,” said Harwood.

Kapur described the MoU as a win/win for ISHRAE and AIRAH. “This is a fantastic opportunity for both our organisations to share valuable knowledge and work closely,” he says. “Together we can promote the development of standards in our industry at a critical point in time.”

The key areas of the agreement include reciprocal access to conferences and events, eLearning and webinars; joint development of standards and access to each others publications. Each organisation may also be given opportunities by the other to comment on proposed policy and position statements developed on technical subjects.
