AREA names young video stars

SPAIN: Young professionals from France and Germany have been named as winners of AREA’s annual European Rising Stars video competition.

The initiative, organised by AREA together with World Refrigeration Day, was originally developed as a means to highlight inspiring young professionals women working in refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps across Europe. This year’s edition was extended to include a category for youth best practice.

This year’s winners, announced at the AREA general assembly in Madrid this week, were Edouard Letot, an apprentice at Axima Refrigeration France, in the Youth Best Practice category and Milena Boettcher, a service technician with German contractor Kälteprofi Koch & Co, for Women in Cooling.

The competition invited participants to submit short videos of up to 10 minutes duration showcasing their passion, technical competence, and commitment to sustainability, safety and innovation in the cooling sector. The winners were recognised not only for the quality of their videos, but also for their role as ambassadors and role models for future generations entering the sector.

The winners in each category receive €1,000 cheque from World Refrigeration Day, and a commemorative trophy.
