Beijer Ref buys Italian AC supplier Idema

ITALY: Beijer Ref has acquired a 75% stake in Italian air conditioning distributor Idema Clima, with an option to acquire the remaining shares.

Idema Clima sells domestic/commercial air conditioning units under its own Idema brand. These are sourced from the Far East, probably from Midea, and feature GMCC Toshiba DC inverter compressors.

Founded in 1993 and based in Vertemate con Minoprio, 30km north of Milan, Idema has an annual turnover of around €19m.

The company operates from a two-storey facility housing the management, administrative and sales offices, training rooms, and product display areas, as well as a large warehouse. It has an additional warehouse, home to spare parts, where a dedicated in-house technical team also handles technical testing and quality assurance.

“Idema is a well-established distributor in the region. The acquisition supports our strategy to expand our market presence and create long-term synergies. We look forward to working with the existing management team,” commented Beijer Ref CEO Christopher Norbye.
