Beijer Ref moves into Canada

CANADA: Swedish wholesaler Beijer Ref has acquired 80% of the shares in Enertrak, an HVAC distributor based in Montreal, Quebec, with an option to acquire the remaining shares. 

The acquisition is Beijer Ref’s entry first acquisition in Canada and further expands its North American footprint. 

Originally founded in founded in Laval in 1982, Enertrak has grown to distribute more than 40 product lines from its seven warehouses in Quebec, the Maritimes and the Outaouais region.

The company has annual net sales of approximately €100m and employs 120 staff. In line with other Beijer Ref acquisitions, Enertrak will continue to operate under its own brand. 

Commenting on the purchase, Beijer Ref chairperson Per Bertland said:“This acquisition represents an important step in Beijer Ref’s strategy to further expand the North American platform through an entry into the Canadian market.”
