Bitzer buys organic Rankine cycle business
USA: ElectraTherm, a supplier of organic Rankine cycle power generators, has announced its acquisition by the US subsidiary of German compressor manufacturer Bitzer.
Incorporated in 2005 and headquartered in Reno, Nevada, ElectraTherm is a leader in small-scale waste heat recovery. Its Power+ Generator uses waste heat on applications such as internal combustion engines, biomass boilers, flare gas, geothermal/co-produced fluids, etc.
It currently has 50 machines in operation in 12 countries and has clocked up in excess of 75 years of runtime.
“Developing energy-efficient solutions is one of our main goals – and the waste heat to power market offers tremendous potential,” commented Peter Narreau, Bitzer North America’s president. “ElectraTherm’s ORC technology enables us to make better use of the abundant, and untapped resource of waste heat. This builds on Bitzer’s commitment of responsible climate protection. There are clear synergies in our markets and technologies, and we are eager to combine our efforts to further grow our respective markets.”
