Bitzer takes joint approach to smart control
22nd February 2026
GERMANY: Compressor manufacturer Bitzer will be demonstrating how Intelligent compressor technology meets smart plant control on a joint stand with subsidiary Wurm at EuroShop this week.
Bitzer acquired a majority stake in Wurm, a Remscheid-based manufacturer of refrigeration and air conditioning data transmission and monitoring systems, in 2018.
The two companies will demonstrate how their technologies interact using a transcritical CO₂ system. The entire system is controlled by a central Wurm control unit which communicates directly with Bitzer’s IQ Module CM-RC-02 integrated into the connection box of the Bitzer Ecoline 4-cylinder reciprocating compressor, via Modbus RTU. This allows operating data and warning messages to be immediately incorporated into the central control strategy.
Bitzer will also be presenting its Performance Kits, which provide simple ways to equip existing compressors with additional functions.
The Performance Kits are suitable for Ecoline Pro series reciprocating compressors for hydrocarbons (orders from November 11, 2024) and Ecoline series compressors for HFC/HFO refrigerants that were not originally supplied with the IQ Module CM-RC-02.
The kit is mounted directly onto the existing compressor’s connection box, and the wiring is connected to the module – without any complex modifications to the control cabinet.
