Bosch halts Polish heat pump factory plans
24th September 2025
GERMANY/POLAND: German manufacturer Bosch has announced the suspension of its €280m investment in a new heat pump factory in Poland.
Reports in the financial press say that the decision was driven by heat pump demand falling short of forecasts, and increasing economic and political uncertainty in Europe.
Originally announced in 2023, the factory was to be located in the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone WSSE Invest-Park in Dobromierz, Lower Silesia, approximately 70km from Wrocław. Production was originally scheduled to begin at the end of this year or early 2026.
The factory was due to produce outdoor and indoor heat pump units, mainly for the European market, creating 500 new jobs. It was intended to complement Bosch’s existing European heat pump factories in Portugal, Germany and Sweden.
The company has said that plans for the new plant may be revised in the future when demand for heat pumps strengthens.
