Trane adds modular R290 air-cooled chiller

BELGIUM: Trane has added FLEX N, new range of modular full-inverter scroll R290 air-cooled chillers.
Employing inverter scroll compressors and EC fans, the Flex N air-cooled chiller is available in four sizes and capacities of 64kW-125kW.
An extended operating map on both operating ambient temperature (-20°C to 46°C) and leaving water temperature (-12°C to +25°C) makes the unit suitable for a wide range of applications.
In comfort cooling, the range achieves an average SEER of 5.4. In process cooling its SEPR HT is 5.9.
Built on a fully modular platform, Flex N allows fast hydraulic connection and streamlined electronic control in banks of up to six units, delivering cooling capacity up to 750 kW.
The compact design and its side‑by‑side configuration minimises site space, while the low refrigerant charge per circuit enhances both safety and environmental responsibility.
The Flex N features a comprehensive safety pack based on Trane’s SDS2E approach (segregate, detect, stop, signal, and extract). It includes ATEX‑certified leak management and safety relief valves. The optional integrated gas/water separator detects and isolates leaks in the event of a BPHE failure. In parallel, the interlock system enhances protection in side‑by‑side modular installations.
