Chemours boss is safety chair

USA: Mark Vergnano, president and CEO of Chemours, has been named as chair of the US National Safety Council.

Formed in 1913, the National Safety Council (NSC) originally dealt with occupational safety but is now seeking to prevent deaths in all areas.

Mark Vergnano has been a member of the NSC board for the past seven years. He also sits on the boards of the American Chemistry Council and Johnson Controls International.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of today’s NSC 2017 Congress and Expo in Indianapolis, Vergnano expressed his belief that safety must be at the core of any industrial company: “Safety obsession, as we call it at Chemours, is one of our five foundational corporate values. The word obsession reminds us to keep safety top-of-mind for our workforce every day.”
