Christopher Norbye appointed CEO of Beijer Ref

Christopher Norbye will take over as Beijer Ref CEO in Q4

SWEDEN: Christopher Norbye, an executive vice-president at Swedish access solutions company Assa Abloy, has been appointed CEO and president of refrigeration and air conditioning wholesaler Beijer Ref.

The appointment follows the decision by Per Bertland to step down as CEO of Beijer Ref. Norebye is expected to take over during the fourth quarter.

Christopher Norbye is currently executive vice president and head of the entrance systems division at Assa Abloy, a company he joined in 2017. Prior to that he spent 10 years with Sandvik, latterly as president of its Medical Solutions business, then a further three years as executive vice president at Orchid Orthopedic Solutions following Orchid’s acquisition of the business.

Other positions have included two years at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) and a similar period as a corporate finance analyst at American Express.

Commenting on the appointment, Beijer Ref chairman of the board Kate Swann said: “With Christopher Norbye, we have a highly commercial and business-oriented leader with a strong track record. He combines global scale and focused execution orientation with an engaging leadership style. Beijer Ref has had a fantastic journey during Per’s tenure with several years of strong growth in both sales and earnings. I look forward to supporting Christopher as he continues to develop Beijer Ref, both organically and through acquisitions.”

Norbye’s predecessor, Per Bertland, was elected to the Beijer Ref board in March, following his decision to step down as CEO after eight years in the role.
