Creating a one-stop-shop for environmental data

BELGIUM: Eurovent Certification has launched a sustainability department to support the increasing market demand for environmental information for procurement, reporting, and regulatory readiness. 

Led by sustainability director, Alejandro Fernández De Mera, and LCA lead, Fabián Andrés Diaz Sanchez, Eurovent Certification’s new services aim to simplify environmental data for HVACR products. 

Created as a one-stop-shop to support manufacturers across a growing range of sustainability topics, the department’s first service offering focuses on environmental data and lifecycle methodologies, with EPDs and LCAs as the initial priority areas. Over time, Eurovent Certification says it intends to expand this support to address a broader range of sustainability-related needs across the HVACR sector.

A new end-to-end EPD service has been launched including data scoping, life cycle assessment modelling, EPD drafting aligned with recognised standards such as EN 15804 and ISO 14025, support with programme operator selection, verification coordination, and publication. 

In addition to EPD development, Eurovent Certification is offering dedicated Life Cycle Assessment services to help manufacturers gain deeper insights into the environmental impacts of their products. LCA studies enable manufacturers to identify environmental hotspots across the product lifecycle, compare design or sourcing scenarios, and build robust sustainability baselines for product portfolios.

The service includes PEF-ready lifecycle studies aligned with the European Commission’s Product Environmental Footprint methodology, advanced lifecycle modelling for Ecodesign and portfolio strategy, and scenario analysis to test potential improvements.
