Daikin sales down 3% in Q1

JAPAN: Daikin has reported Q1 net sales of JPY1,213,821m ($8.2bn), down 3% on the April-June period in 2024, but operating profit was up 5.1% at JPY121,300m ($822m).

Total sales for air conditioning and refrigeration, its largest business segment, decreased 3.1% year-on-year to JPY1,132,679m ($7,671m). Operating profit increased 9.9% year-on-year to JPY114,680m ($777m).

Sales in Europe are said to have increased year-on-year due to sales expansion in Central and Eastern Europe and in Germany and the UK. Daikin reported that the slowdown in residential heat pump demand appeared to have bottomed out in the second half of last fiscal year, but overall sales remained flat and the market has not yet fully recovered.
