INDIA: Daikin has come out top in tests on nine brands of split system air conditioners available in India.

The Department of Consumer Affairs tested nine common brands of 1.5 ton domestic units with an energy rating of  5 stars, a minimum EER of 3.5 under India’s Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). All the units were all manufactured in and/or for the Indian market where split systems represent 75% of sales.

Daikin was placed top followed by India’s Blue Star with Voltas LG and Panasonic in joint third.

The tests looked at energy-efficiency, net total room cooling capacity, power consumption, maximum operating conditions, noise level, net dehumidifying effect and net total sensible effect.
