Danfoss adds rotary compressors in Highly deal

CHINA/DENMARK: Danfoss has expanded its R290 compressor portfolio following the signing of a global agreement with Shanghai-based rotary compressor manufacturer Highly.

This strategic agreement enables Danfoss to offer rotary technology to the residential heat pump market and some selective refrigeration applications. It also completes Danfoss’ R290-based programme for heat pumps.

Danfoss will be selling the Highly compressors under the Danfoss-brand for OEMs and distributors within the residential heat pump market, while Highly will continue to sell Highly-branded rotary compressors via its existing channels.

The Danfoss rotary compressors will come with a brand-new HVAC drive, detailed polynomials, and will be offered as a pre-qualified package.

Welcoming the new deal, Danfoss Commercial Compressors’ senior vice president of scroll and reciprocating compressors Fabio Klein said: “Combined with our extensive application support, testing and simulation capacities, and understanding of the continuously evolving environmental product standards, refrigerant transition, and energy efficiency requirements, this will support our vision of becoming a long-term all-in-one solution provider for residential heat pumps.”

Ji Shengchang, vice president of Shanghai Highly Electrical Appliances, added: “Danfoss’ complete offering for heat pump market, strong application expertise will certainly contribute towards Highly becoming the leading supplier of the rotary compressor technology in the heat pump market.”
