DENMARK/NETHERLANDS: Danfoss Plate Heat Exchangers has sold its Dutch heat exchanger subsidiary, Sondex BV, to heat exchanger experts Theo Thoen and Hans Ter Velde.

Based in Purmerend in the Netherlands, Sondex BV became part of Danfoss with the acquisition of Danish parent Sondex Holding A/S in 2016.

Theo Thoen has been sales director and head of the Purmerend factory since 2020, when he joined Danfoss after 22 years at Swedish manufacturer Alfa Laval. His co-founder, Hans Ter Velde, was a former director of Danfoss Heat Exchangers.

Under it new name of SD Heat Exchangers BV, the company will continue as the Danfoss official assembly and authorised distributor partner in the Benelux region.

“We are excited to launch SD Heat Exchangers BV and continue providing Danfoss high-quality brazed, gasketed, and welded solutions,” said co-owner Hans Ter Velde.

“Our focus is on maintaining strong relationships with our customers and partners, while driving growth and innovation. We are also committed to ensuring a smooth onboarding process for all employees.”

The transition process will begin immediately and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

“This sale is part of our strategic initiative to strengthen our distribution network in the Benelux region,” claimed Pierre Hultback, Danfoss’ head of plate heat exchangers sales. “With Theo and Hans at the helm, the business is in exceptionally capable hands. We have collaborated with them for many years and have great confidence in their deep industry expertise and understanding of the local market. This transition is fully aligned with our commitment to enhancing local presence and delivering seamless service to customers in the region.”
