Danfoss Turbocor wins Product of the Year

USA: The Danfoss Turbocor TTH/TGH high-lift compressor has been named as the AHR Expo Product of the Year.

A winner in the Green Building category of the AHR Expo Innovation Awards, the Turbocor compressor was announced the outright winner, yesterday, during the AHR Expo show which concludes its three-day run in Chicago today.

The annual awards competition honours the most inventive and original products, systems and technologies showcased at each year’s AHR Expo. The outright Product of the Year is chosen from the winners of 10 categories: building automation; cooling; green building; heating; indoor air quality; plumbing; refrigeration; software; tools & instruments; and ventilation.

The winners were selected by a panel of third-party ASHRAE member judges who evaluated all award entries based on innovative design, creativity, application, value and market impact.

Featuring the oil-free, variable speed, magnetic bearing operation of other Danfoss Turbocor compressors, the new Danfoss Turbocor TTH/TGH high-lift compressors are said to offer outstanding full- and part-load efficiency, low vibration and sound, a small footprint, and reduced maintenance — while providing an expanded operating map suitable for high-lift applications like air-cooled chillers and heat recovery.

Danfoss Turbocor high-lift compressors are available in two versions — a nominal 325-kW (90 ton) model using R134a or R513A (TTH325) and a nominal 250-kW (70 ton) model using low-GWP R1234ze (TGH250).
