Death toll in Harlem LD outbreak rises to six

USA: The number of deaths in the legionnaires’ disease outbreak in New York City’s Harlem neighbourhood has risen to six.

There have now been 112 confirmed cases confirmed since July 25 when the cluster was first identified. Seven people remain in hospital.

The New York City Health Department has confirmed that since remediation work was carried out on the 12 cooling towers that tested positive for live legionella the number of new cases has declined.
