Diversitech buys Hilmor tools brand

USA: Air conditioning and refrigeration parts and accessories supplier DiversiTech has acquired the Hilmor brand from Stanley Black & Decker.

Available across the US, Canada and Latin America, the Hilmor portfolio includes more than 300 products ranging from manifolds and gauges to vacuum pumps and electronic tools.

The Hilmor brand was relaunched into the HVACR sector at the AHR Expo show in the US in 2013 by Newell Rubbermaid. The history of the Hilmor brand name, however, goes back to the formation of Hilmor Ltd a manufacturer of tube benders in Sheffield, UK, in 1926. The Hilmor brand was subsequently acquired by Stanley Black & Decker in 2016, along with Newell’s Irwin, and Lenox businesses for $1.95bn.

DiversiTech CEO Andy Bergdoll described the acquisition as a major step forward for the company, adding: “Over the coming months we will be looking at ways to strategically grow and optimise the Hilmor brand within our business.”

DiversiTech chief sales and marketing officer Bud Sjogren said that the DiversiTech leadership team was working closely with Hilmor and Stanley Black & Decker to ensure a seamless transition.

“Several key Hilmor personnel, including all current Hilmor sales reps, will be joining the new business under DiversiTech, further securing continuity, expertise and an extended platform for growth,” he said.

DiversiTech’s acquisition of Hilmor is one of 10 acquisitions by the company in the past 24 months. The company currently offers more than 17,000 product items in over 200 product categories.
