USA: The DOE has published a Federal Register notice of proposed new energy conservation standards for packaged air conditioners.
The proposed new standards for “small, large, and very large air-cooled commercial package air conditioning and heating equipment” is defined as air-cooled, water-cooled, evaporatively-cooled, or water source unitary air conditioners or heat pumps that are used for space conditioning of commercial and industrial buildings.
The proposed standards, if adopted, would apply to all equipment listed in the table below and manufactured in and intended for distribution and sale in the US, or imported into, the US on or after the date three years after the publication of the final rule.
A public meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, November 6, 2014, from 9am to pm in the DOE offices in Washington. The comment deadline is December 1, 2014.
