EC leaves it late to replace R22 chillers
23rd December 2014BELGIUM: The European Commission may set the rules but at least one of its operations is still to come to terms with the phase out of R22.
The Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM), one of seven institutes of the Joint Research Centre (JRC), a directorate-general of the European Commission (EC) is looking to replace R22 chillers at its facility in Geel, Belgium.
The IRMM is responsible for the production and dissemination of quality assurance tools and promotes a common and reliable European measurement system in support of European Union policies. The IRMM covers a wide range of measurement problems from food safety to environmental pollution.
The work which is out for tender until January 6 calls for the dismantling and disposal of the existing R22 chillers and their replacement with two water-cooled and two air-cooled chillers, connecting them to the existing HVAC circuits and the building management system.
