Embraco opens European R&D centre

SLOVAKIA: Embraco, the Brazilian refrigeration compressor manufacturer, has established a new €2.5m technology centre at its European production plant in Spisska Nova Ves, Slovakia.
With the move towards low GWP refrigerants under the European F-gas regulations, Embraco recognised a need to expand and upgrade its testing facilities. The new R&D and innovation hub will focus on development of commercial compressors for use with low GWP hydrocarbon refrigerants propane and isobutane.
The expansion comes in the year that the Slovakia plant celebrates its 20th anniversary. The plant has around 2,400 employees and produces revenues of around €225m.
