F-gas group Coolektiv closes

Cheque presentation (left to right): Gerd Frisch and Heribert Baumeister of BIV accept the remainder of the Coolektiv account from Westfalen’s Norbert Klostermann and Andreas Weisheit

GERMANY: Coolektiv, the industry group founded in 2018 to push for a consistent implementation of the F-gas regulation and to campaign against the illegal trade in HFCs, has closed down.

The Coolektiv was formed from a number of concerned parties, including refrigerant products Chemours and Honeywell, refrigeration components association Asercom, German refrigerant suppliers Westfalen and Frigoteam Handels, and retailer Rewe.

The body was founded as an expert panel at the initiative of Westfalen during the 2018 Chillventa trade fair. From the ouset, it was planned as a time-limited initiative but was extended year after year due to its success.

Following the group’s dissolution at the end of January, the €9,900 remaining balance in the account was donated to the German Federal Guild Association of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors (BIV) to support its Coolest Job in the World careers initiative.
