Fujitsu General to trade as General Inc
4th October 2025
JAPAN: Following its purchase by Paloma Rheem Holdings, the name of the Fujitsu General air conditioning business will change to General Inc from January 1.
The new name and brand symbol General will be gradually introduced, starting with new products from the beginning of next year.
The names of its consolidated subsidiaries that currently use Fujitsu in their trade names are also scheduled to change their trade names to ones bearing General as of January 1.
Fujitsu first announced an intention to sell its 44% stake in its Fujitsu General air conditioning business in 2023. Despite talks with multiple parties for a speedy sale, the $1.63bn sale to Paloma Rheem Holdings was only completed in August.
The trade name General has been used as a trademark since 1946 and is now registered in more than 120 countries and regions.
President and CEO Koji Masuda commented: “Under our new slogan, Creating a Life Conditioner, we remain committed to the belief that the foundation of manufacturing lies in a sincere focus on people and an unwavering pursuit of technological innovation. We will cultivate a corporate culture that creates new value. At the same time, we will continue working to deliver more comfortable lifestyles to our customers and, through ongoing efforts, contribute to the realisation of a sustainable society.”
