Heat pump sales boosts Vaillant turnover to €3.7bn

GERMANY: The Vaillant Group claims to be among the three largest European heat pump suppliers after reporting a sales growth of more than 75% in 2022.

The significant further expansion of the German manufacturer’s heat pump business in the 2022 financial year boosted turnover by 11% to €3.7bn, while the number of employees across the group increased from 16,000 to around 17,000.

The Remscheid-based heating technology provider Vaillant Group, which made its name in gas heating, only switched its strategic focus to heat pumps in 2016.

Up to €2bn has now been earmarked for investment in the growing heat pump business. Particular focus is on the expansion of production and development capacities and the expansion of the range of services for specialist trade partners.

Series production will start in autumn 2023 in a new mega factory in Slovakia, which will exclusively produce heat pumps. This, in addition to its existing  heat pump plans in Germany, France and England, will see production capacity doubling to well over 500,000 heat pumps per year.

Large investments continue to be made in he company’s headquarters in Remscheid. A state-of-the-art factory is currently being built there, in which 12,000m2 has been allocated for the production of electronic heat pump components.

Vaillant has been concentrating product development on heat pumps using propane refrigerant and this will become the exclusive refrigerant from 2025, the company says.
