JAPAN: Hitachi has sold its household appliance interests to Nojima Corp to concentrate on its air conditioning business.
Under the deal, estimated at JPY110.1bn ($691m), Hitachi Global Life Solutions will spin off its household appliance business to create a new company. Japanese consumer electronics conglomerate Nojima will hold an 80.1% stake in the new firm, with Hitachi Global Life Solutions retaining the remaining 19.9%.
Following the establishment of the new company, Hitachi Global Life Solutions says it will continue to drive the air conditioning business as a core business within its Urban Solutions & Services Business Unit (USBU).
In collaboration with USBU’s Building Systems and Power Solutions businesses, Hitachi will strengthen its integrated service offerings for building and facility management, energy management, and cooling through HMAX for Buildings, its suite of AI-driven solutions for the optimisation of building management, energy efficiency, and occupant wellbeing.
