ILK Dresden expands R290 test capabilities
8th August 2026
GERMANY: ILK Dresden is expanding its testing capabilities to be able to test R290 compressors with a flow rate of up to 48m³/h.
The service, available from this autumn, is designed to respond to the increasing demand for high-performance testing capacity for climate-friendly heat pump and refrigeration applications.
Compressors of this performance class are used particularly in heat pumps, commercial refrigeration systems, and other medium-sized refrigeration applications.
In addition to measuring cooling capacity according to DIN EN 13771:2016, the new test bench enables differentiated stress and lifetime tests.
It can also provide condition analyses and investigations of dynamic oil behaviour. The measurement data obtained enable a sound evaluation of wear mechanisms, lubrication conditions, and other influencing factors that are crucial for the reliability, efficiency, and service life of compressors.
“The development of efficient heat pumps and refrigeration systems requires testing conditions that reflect later use as realistically as possible,” explained ILK Dresden MD Prof Dr-Ing Uwe Franzke. “With the expansion of our compressor test bench, we are creating new opportunities to validate components under demanding operating conditions and to demonstrate their long-term reliability. This helps our industry partners to bring innovations to market faster and more reliably.”
