India set to impose duty on Chinese R134a

9705348_lINDIA: Sources in India say the government is set to impose anti-dumping duty of US$1.22/kg on import of R134a from China.

The move to protect India’s domestic market from cheap imports of the refrigerant follows similar sanctions being considered in the USA.

The allegations of dumping in India are said to have been filed by SRF Ltd, the country’s sole producer of R134a.

Chinese R134a imports are already the subject of a $1.15/kg duty imposed for a period of five years in July 2011.
