Mayekawa opens second European refrigeration plant

SERBIA: Japanese refrigeration company Mayekawa has officially opened a new production plant in Serbia – its second factory in Europe.

The new 5000m² plant, situated in Smederevo, near Belgrade in eastern Serbia, commenced production earlier this year. It is focused on design, manufacturing, sales, and after sales service of compressor packages for industrial refrigeration, supplying markets in Russia, the Middle East, and Africa. It will also contribute to increasing sales of complete packages in Europe.

The factory currently employs 38 workers but planned expansion is expected to see employee numbers rise to around 300 eventually.

Mayekawa’s European division was established with an office in Brussels in 1971. It started production in Belgium in 1997 at its factory in Zaventem, near Brussels airport.
