MHI wins two environmental awards

JAPAN: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems (MHI) has received environmental awards for both its ETI-Z chiller using low GWP refrigerant R1233zd(E) and its C-puzzle CO2 condensing unit.
The awards were presented at the 22nd Ozone Layer Protection/Global Warming Prevention Grand Prize, an event organised annually by the Japanese Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun newspaper.
When introduced in 2015, the ETI-Z turbo chiller was the world’s first small-size centrifugal chillers to adopt the new R1233zd(E) refrigerant, which has a GWP of 1.
The C-puzzle CO2 condensing unit makes use of a special two-stage compressor that combines a scroll and rotary compressor. The adoption of a gas injection cycle ensures both refrigeration capacity and energy savings.
