Mitsi plant in Turkey starts production

TURKEY: Mitsubishi Electric’s new air conditioning factory in Turkey is to commence production tomorrow (December 12).

The new Mitsubishi Electric Turkey Klima Sistemleri Üretim Anonim Şirketi factory is projected to be producing 500,000 sets of indoor and outdoor room air conditioning sets annually by 2021. It is the second split system air conditioner plant the Japanese manufacturer has built in Europe after Livingston, UK.

The 40,000m² factory is based in Manisa, just inland from the Aegean Sea port of Izmir. It will supply both the Turkish market and the wider European market and employ 400 people. It is reported to have cost around €40m.

Mitsubishi Electric says the factory is “expected to play a key role in accelerating localisation to ensure a flexible supply chain capable of responding to fluctuating demands and meeting specific local market, preferences and environmental requirements in both Turkey and Europe”.
