Mitsubishi invests $113m to boost production in Turkey

TURKEY: Mitsubishi Electric is to invest around US$113m in a further expansion of its air conditioning manufacturing facility in Turkey.

The expansion of the facility in Manisa will expand annual capacity for air-to-water heat pumps to 300,000 units, up by 100,000 units from current capacity, and room air conditioners to 1,100,000 units, up by 300,000 units. Production will begin in February 2024.

On Wednesday, rival Japanese air conditioning manufacturer Daikin announced a €13m investment in its Turkish factory to commence production of VRF air conditioning systems for the Turkish and Middle Eastern market.

Mitsubishi Electric established its Turkish subsidiary in 2016, commencing production from the factory in Manisa – just inland from the Aegean Sea port of Izmir – at the end of 2017. Just last year, the company announced a US$18m investment to commence heat pump production and boost air conditioner output at the factory.
