Modine opens Chennai factory

Unveiling the first AireWall ONE unit built at the new Modine facility in Chennai (l to r): J Eshwar Nag (Modine India material planning and logistics lead), V Purushothaman (Modine India plant manager), Eric McGinnis (president Modine Climate Solutions)

USA: Modine has officially opened its new 100,000ft2 factory in Chennai, India, to meet accelerated demand for data centre cooling across the APAC region.

The launch event included the unveiling of the first locally manufactured unit – the AireWall ONE fan wall. Completed on schedule, the unit features 70% locally procured components, and the team is actively working to increase local sourcing. More ranges are being incorporated into the production schedule. In addition to manufacturing data centre cooling equipment, it will also produce cooling modules for stationary power generation equipment.

“Launching our Chennai facility is a significant milestone in our global growth strategy,” said Eric McGinnis, Modine’s president of climate solutions. “The data centre market in India and across the region is growing rapidly. Establishing in-region manufacturing strengthens our ability to serve APAC data center customers with speed, precision, and locally tailored solutions.”

The Indian factory complements Modine’s recently announced investment to expand US production, and follows the recent opening of new Airedale by Modine manufacturing facilities in Calgary, Canada, and Bradford, UK, in response to data centre industry demand.
